Time for more holy grail posting -- here for sale is this 10-15 year old #JohnHDick #DoubleForte classical guitar. John is in Iowa and is largely regarded as one of the best classical luthiers on the planet.

This one comes in on consignment from my dear friend @dustywhytis who bought this guitar when he was a music composition major in another life. It has been in storage for the better part of the last decade.

When it came in, the finish was stippling due to humidity damage, so I called up my family at @guitarmill
/ @marioguitars to help me repair the finish and they stripped and resprayed the sides in Nitro. Can't even tell - they knocked it out of the park as always.

It was purchased by a long-time family friend and picked up by the builder's grandson, Tristan Arnett. Tristan informs us that there are only about 40 of these out there. This one was numbered #8.

In the great lore of small luthiers / guitar store owners, Chris DiPinto has always been a bit of an inspiration to me. He makes a killer guitar, and I have always appreciated his mid-century Japanese guitar inspired designs. He also owns a store in Philly that sells a lot of the same fare that we do. He was one of the people who I looked to when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my business.

Long-winded post alert: This is a very special gui

Long-winded post alert: This is a very special guitar from my personal collection.

I bought this guitar B-Stock from a surplus place 2-3 years ago. It had a crack in the face, and once I epoxy wash repaired it, I decided to relic the guitar a little bit to make the visible repair make sense. Once it was done, this guitar sounded and played amazing - really punches above its weight.

Not long after I first opened, this kinda scruffy dude who was working at a chocolate shop and busking in Nashville for a living came into the store on a pretty regular basis. We hit it off pretty well talking about gear, music, and doing a few deals.

What was really remarkable about said dude was when he opened his mouth to sing. As a guitar store owner, I see a LOT of talented people - pretty jaded by talent honestly - so rarely ever does someone's voice make my jaw drop. To hear that voice come out of this 24 year old choclatier would make anyone stop and take notice.

That new friend and busking wonder was @oliversteelemusic.

He fell in love with this Ibanez acoustic. I even remember how he Facetimed his Dad to show him how good it sounded and ask if he thought Oli should grab it. Well, he did and this is the guitar that Oli used to play and busk with for most of last year when he was putting in some serious work. He even rubbed some real wear spots on the back of the neck.

When he got his Breedlove sponsorship, Oli decided this guitar should come back home to me, and he sold it back to me. I decided to hold onto it because I had a feeling that owning Oli's old guitar would mean something one day. I wasn't aware of how soon that day would come.

Now, it seems that everyone has caught on to the tremendous talent that is Oliver Steele! He will be performing tomorrow as part of the #top12 of @americanidol. Be sure to tune in and vote for Oli -- you can vote up to 30 times on various platforms.

I cannot think of a more deserving artist than he - I have seen first hand the amount of love, work, and dedication he puts into his craft. That is why we are #TeamOli!

The nitro finish is top notch, but the og electrical was made of tinfoil. So we rewired it with #BootstrapUSA pickups and super vintagey appointments like a 3-way switch.

I have noticed that "dimestore conversions" are really hot in acoustic luthiery right now. For these, the luthier takes the guitar apart, rebraces and basically completely rebuilds the guitar from nearly scratch.

This is just such a guitar - this one started life as a B&J Serenader built in the 1960s. An unknown luthier has given it a complete rebuild. Solid quality! Compensated bone saddle and bone nut with a K&K piezo system. This thing is awesome! Plays and sounds incredible.
