For sale here is a little partscaster that someone put a lot of time and effort into. It came to me almost fully finished — in fact the auction I bought this one from had a few labeled “Bender.” I wondered if they had been a part of an estate or something like that. They all seemed to be super high quality, but this is the only one I actually got the winning bid on. I tried Googling “Bender Guitars” every way I could, but as you can imagine, that is pretty inconclusive.
The parts are all of astounding quality, and the guitar just feels great — not even just plays great, but feels great when you hold it in your hands. I imagine this has to be a parts build by a small time luthier.
The body is figured mahogany with a clear finish. Three pieces, center with two wings. The pickups are DiMarzio rails, and the components all seem to be quality. The pickguard was on the guitar when I got it, but it had a white tremolo cover, so I put a tort one on to match. That and the knobs are really my only addition, the original knobs were standard strat knobs, and I personally hate them, so I changed them.
The neck is the real seller of this guitar. Bird’s eye Maple, I would rate at AAA. The fingerboard is jet black Gaboon ebony. All and all just absolute quality. It has a Chunky C profile that is great if you have medium largish sized hands like I do. The builder applied the “Bender Stratocaster” logo under the finish.
Really, I cannot understate how nice this guitar is. I wish I knew how put all the time into it so I could shake their hand. As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action as low as I could. This guitar has no case or gig bag, but I pack my guitars tight and insure every package.
