For sale here is a Bogey Guitars Stratocaster made in the late 80s or early 90s. These were made in Korea as far as I can tell and are regarded to be some of the most well-built foreign made Fender fakes out there. This one even has the dead on Fender headstock, I cannot find evidence that Bogey was ever sued, but they had to be, right? Or at least gotten a cease and desist.
As far as I can tell, all Bogey did was make really good fakes of Fender, Gibson and other recognizable guitar companies. But, they seem to be rare, short lived, and fairly sought after in niche circles.
The body of this guitar is made of Paulownia. That means it is ULTRA light. Whole guitar maybe weighs 5.5lbs and there is no neck dive. Great for long hours on the stage or in the studio.
Functionally, this guitar is great. Everything you want out of a strat. Classic vintage-like strat tone. A super comfortable neck. Low action. No real damage or play-ability issues to speak of. The finish is even still clean and shiny, with only the mildest to-be-expected swirl scratches and not really a ding to speak of. In all honesty, this is one of the best playing little strats I have ever had.
The neck plate is a replacement, and the screw pattern is a dead fit, but the plate is a little skinny, so it looks a little strange. (see pics for full details.)
As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action as low as I could. This guitar is proudly strung with Stringjoy Custom Guitar Strings, made right here in Nashville, TN.
This guitar has no case or gig bag, but I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package for the full sale amount.
