WORD UP!
Here for sale is a Cameo Deluxe / Teisco 3 pickup electric guitar Made in Japan in the 1960s by Matsumoku. This guitar looks and plays great. The action is super low, and it only has the to-be-expected amount of dings and scrapes on a ~50 year old guitar. The hardware has a bit of patina, but over all the guitar just oozes character. It has a wonderful “relic” to it, but this one is real!
The pickups and electronics sound great, and the pickups that can be switched on individually which means this guitar has a W I D E variance of tone. The pickups are classic MIJ “toaster” style pickups. They sound great clean, or with a little bit of overdrive. The tort guard is super interesting and looks killer. The original knobes were missing when I got it, so I added some Tele style barrel knobs.
As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, changed the strings, cleaned the electronic components and set the action as low as I could. This guitar has no case or gig bag, but I pack all of my guitars tight and insure every package.
You really don’t get much more classic than this when it comes to funky Japanese vintage.
