Description
“Book ’em, Dano”
Here for sale is a cool Danelectro U-1 in the rare and desirable “Dakota Red” finish, one of the best looking (and no longer available) colors offered on these original reissues. I picked this one up on my recent “pick trip” to Chicago….rescued from a pawn shop in southern Wisconsin!
Made in the late 90’s in Korea. It’s a sought after reissue due to its’ genuine “Lipstick” single coil pickups with original formula 50’s style Alnico magnets, dual concentric(stacked) tone and volume controls, Dano “coke bottle” headstock, “dolphin” shaped pickguard, and large hollow inner cavity for the cool open, ringy tones. Other features include the original style chrome bridge with Rosewood saddle, hard Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard, chrome sealed “D” logo tuners, and 25” scale.
This one is in pretty great shape. It plays and sounds better than the originals. No notes, no damage, nothing much to say other than I had to make a new control cover as the original was missing. As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action as low as I could. This guitar comes with a basic gig bag, and I pack my guitars up tight!
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
