For sale here is a partscaster I built using parts I have acquired in my travels. I am super proud of this perfect little angel — the overall looks are heavenly (literally).
Here is how I worked my magic:
The body is solid Maple and was pulled from a First Act Adam Levine Signature 222. First Act parts are cheap, but the bodies and necks are usually good quality, especially after a little work. I was so surprised to find out this body was solid (read: not ply) maple….so I scrapped the rest of the parts and kept the body for just such a project as this.
The pickups are GFS. Gretsch style toaster and Zebracoil. The electronics (pots, wiring) are modern, high performance. The pickguard was original to the body. The bridge is AllParts.
The body was refinished and reliced by yours truly. I used standard rattlecan paint, but I treated it as you would if you were spraying Nitro: level sanding between each coat, and clear coating the last coat. This color is called “Cloudburst.” I was originally just going to do the whole thing in Sonic Blue, but when I got the edge done, I really liked the cloud look and decided to go with this heavenly burst instead.
The neck is a Maple tele neck, made by Mitey Mite. Fender licensed with the Fender headstock. The tuners are AllParts 10 mm Gotoh tuners, and they are “suicide tuners,” i.e. they are geared backwards. The action is great, and this is really a great playing guitar. Would be super great for pop-punk, garage rock, skate punk, just plain rock n’ roll.
As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action low and smooth. This guitar is proudly strung with Stringjoy Custom Guitar Strings, made right here in Nashville, TN.
This guitar has a basic gig bag, and I pack my guitars tight and insure every package. I named it “Cloudchaser” because I love Home Movies, Brendan.
