Kay STARter Series “Skull” Short Scale Humbucker Strat (1970s, Black)

Kay STARter Series “Skull” Short Scale Humbucker Strat (1970s, Black)

Nothing much to say on this one. Just a good quality short scale Stratocaster copy made by the one of the most prolific guitar companies of all time, Kay. This one was certainly made in Korea, after Kay had moved production from Japan. I am guessing the late 1970s or early 1980s.

It plays and sounds great, low action and the one single humbcuker is HOT! Perfect for all your pop punk, punk rock and general rock n roll needs.

I had to fabricate a plate for the back, I used two thin sheets of clear plastic and shielding tape. It isn’t perfect, but it is better than no plate at all and it keeps the guitar dead quiet. No hum.

As always, I replaced the strings, polished it up, flushed the electronics and set the action as low as possible. This guitar comes with no case or gig bag, but I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package with Reverb Shipping Protection.

Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
