The JX16 is made from maple with full binding and a generous 16″ cutaway for easy upper fret playing.
The maple neck supports a rosewood fingerboard that features creme binding, pearloid block inlays, and Eddie Durham’s signature at the 12th fret. A set of custom wound, vintage style humbuckers deliver that authentic jazz tone. Additional deluxe appointments include a rosewood-based adjustable bridge, vintage style tailpiece and tuners, and a tortoise pickguard with commemorative engraving. Gold finish. Includes a deluxe hard case.
Guitar Research celebrates the 100th anniversary of Eddie Durham, the pioneer of the electric guitar. Eddie Durham was the first to develop and record on an amplified guitar. He taught his single string technique to Charlie Christian and wrote many of Count Basie’s hits. As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action low and comfy.
