SKATE OR DIE!
For sale here is skatepunk edition of a lawsuit era Univox LP-DC-Jr style guitar.
When I got it, the original dogear P90 has been swapped for a humbucker that the previous owner preferred, and I wanted to revert it back to its P-90 glory…..so I put in this “Skookum-90” USA made pickup from Bootstrap up in Ohio. You can see the two screwholes from where the dogear style P90 used to be.
The tuners have been swapped for Grovers, which was a much needed upgrade. The bridge is a Gibson wrap around that I took off of my 2011 Gibson Melody Maker. Pretty much everything on this guitar has been upgraded!
This thing plays great. The pickup is chunky and cutting, perfect for your punk and general rock n roll needs. The action is low and comfortable. The patina is to die for, worn in, but not beat to hell. The kind of relic people pay big money for from custom shops!
When this one was shipped to me, the neck delaminated in shipment. I resealed it and it should be stronger than before, but you can see the line where I repaired it. It is merely cosmetic though, this guitar is structurally sound and will last for decades to come. (See pics for full details)
As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, changed the strings, cleaned the electronic components and set the action as low as I could. Comes with a Gibson padded gig bag, and I pack every guitar to survive the apocalypses. I also insure every package for the full purchase amount. The gig bag was pretty musty when I got it, I bleached the inside and Febreze bombed it like five times, then let it dry out for 2-3 days, but it still has a faint musty smell, just a heads up.
I kept this one for a while, but I think I am ready to pass it along. Please buy it before I change my mind. Save me from myself!
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
